What is the difference between archiving and inactivating a chart?
Archiving and inactivating a chart are both methods for managing patient records. Inactivating a chart is a way to temporarily remove a patient's record from the active list while still keeping the data associated with that chart accessible for reference or further processing. This may be done when the patient/client is no longer active or when the record requires updates or modifications.
On the other hand, archiving a chart is a way to remove the chart from the active list entirely and is often used for patients/clients who are no longer under your care. When a chart is archived, all notes, messages, and billing entries associated with that chart are also removed, and the patient's/client's portal account is no longer accessible. However, archived charts can still be retrieved if needed by unarchiving them.
