How do I bill for reviewing a rating scale?

Depending on the patient's/client's insurance company, you may be able to bill for reviewing a rating scale. Please check with the payer first to confirm you are eligible and read on to learn more:

1. To bill for reviewing a rating scale, you need to add it to an intake, SOAP, or free text note and record billing info for the session before signing the note. 

2. You can use billing code 96127 for "Brief emotional/behavioral assessment, with scoring and documentation, per standardized instrument" when billing an insurance company for reviewing a rating scale.
