Why can't I edit the email address in a patient/client chart?

Once a patient/client has set up a portal account, they now own that account. Clinicians are not allowed to update emails as this would interfere with the patient/client's administration of their account. 

  • To edit an email address, the patient/client must log in to their account and update the email themselves. You can share this simple article with them to help them along.
  • If you have entered an incorrect email address, or any other mishap occurred on your side, first check to see if your patient's portal account is active. You will know this if this notification "Portal account connected {date}" appears under the email box in their Chart>Profile>Demographics Info. In this case, contact us to rectify this for you. If the account has not been created, you will be able to resend the invitation.

  • If the patient no longer has access to the email address on record, please have them contact us so that our development team can make the necessary adjustments.
